Abstract

This paper presents the results of a trade-off and preliminary design study on concepts for a superconducting magnet system for a combustion magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) generator test facility. This allows an insight to be gained into the magnitude of the project in terms of physical characteristics and cost. It also allows potential interface problem areas to become evident and allows estimates to be made of any development required.
